Baptisms

At Venue Church we believe that as soon as you have accepted Jesus Christ into your heart, you should get baptized! Baptism is a public declaration of the decision you’ve already made in your heart and spoken aloud. Specifically, it’s declaring that your sin separates you from God and that Jesus died to adopt you into God’s family. It’s proclaiming that you need and accept the free gift of salvation, and also accept the rule of Jesus in your life from this point onward.

Baptism symbolizes death and resurrection. The old YOU that we put under the water stays there. What comes up is new and belongs to Jesus, to live in His resurrection holiness and power.

Don’t put it off! As soon as you make the decision to receive Christ into your heart you can and should get baptized. At Venue we say that if you wait until you feel ready then you’ll never be ready:)

For some of you this will be the best chance you’ve ever had to tell your story to your family and friends. This is not the time to be timid. If they love you they will also love your story and respect it. Be confident and cheerful. You’ve made the best decision of your life and you want them to know why!

Acts 22:16

What are you waiting for? Get up and be baptized. Have your sins washed away by calling on the name of the Lord.’

Colossians 2:12-14

For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.

FAQ’s

Baptism is a matter of obedience. It is symbolic of the death and resurrection of Jesus. It takes a private relationship and makes it public. Jesus baptized people in His ministry, and He Himself was baptized to “fulfill all righteousness”. It signifies publicly the end of a journey and the beginning of another. There are few things more important than the day you get baptized:)

You’ll sit at the front of the auditorium with the other baptismees and wait for your name to be called. We often show a short video interview of your story and what God has done in your life.  When it’s your turn you will step (with assistance) into the tub of warm water sunk into the stage (people are normally cheering for you by this time), you will be dipped under the water for a moment and come back out.

Venue Church will provide a black t-shirt for you but you will need proper undergarments and shorts. Bring a towel! Come dressed as you normally do (whatever that looks like:) and you will have an opportunity to change.

Yes! However, at Venue Church we believe that your child should wait to get baptized until they are old enough to believe and understand the meaning of baptism.

Yes! We love if families make a decision to follow Jesus together. If not every family member is ready to be baptized, it is usually unwise to delay your baptism. Your decision to stand out might challenge them to do the same thing!

Anybody who loves you and wants the best for you! Also inviting people in your friend and family circle is a great idea as baptism moves everybody who is there closer to Jesus! It is a rare Venue baptism where other people don’t decide to follow Jesus on the spot!

Essentially yes, but on a short video interview filmed before the actual day. This keeps your nerves down so you can tell your story a little more relaxed than in front of hundreds of people:)
